APPLICATION OF BEAD-STRINGING OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY TO IMPROVE SELF-ESTEEM IN A PATIENT WITH CHRONIC LOW SELF-ESTEEM IN BANTUR DISTRICT

ABSTRAK
Pendahuluan: Harga Diri Rendah Kronis (HDRK) merupakan salah satu masalah keperawatan jiwa yang sering ditemukan pada pasien dengan gangguan jiwa dan ditandai oleh penilaian negatif terhadap diri sendiri yang berlangsung lama. Kondisi ini dapat menyebabkan penurunan kepercayaan diri, menarik diri dari lingkungan, dan rendahnya partisipasi dalam aktivitas produktif. Salah satu intervensi yang dapat diberikan adalah terapi okupasi meronce sebagai aktivitas bermakna untuk meningkatkan rasa mampu dan harga diri pasien. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain studi kasus deskriptif pada satu pasien dengan diagnosis keperawatan Harga Diri Rendah Kronis di Kecamatan Bantur. Intervensi dilakukan melalui terapi okupasi meronce selama tiga minggu dengan frekuensi tiga kali kunjungan setiap minggu. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara, observasi, pemeriksaan status mental, pengukuran harga diri menggunakan Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), dan lembar evaluasi terapi okupasi meronce. Hasil dan Pembahasan: Skor RSES pasien meningkat dari 14 (harga diri rendah) pada saat pretest menjadi 24 (harga diri sedang/normal) pada saat posttest. Pasien menunjukkan perubahan perilaku adaptif berupa peningkatan kontak mata, kemampuan berkomunikasi, postur tubuh yang lebih tegak, penilaian diri yang lebih positif, minat terhadap aktivitas baru, dan kemandirian dalam menyelesaikan kerajinan meronce. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa terapi okupasi meronce memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan harga diri pada pasien dengan Harga Diri Rendah Kronis.

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Chronic Low Self-Esteem (CLSE) is a common psychiatric nursing problem characterized by persistent negative self-evaluation. This condition may lead to decreased self-confidence, social withdrawal, and limited participation in productive activities. Bead stringing occupational therapy is considered a meaningful activity that can enhance patients' sense of competence and self-esteem. Method: This study employed a descriptive case study design involving one patient diagnosed with Chronic Low Self-Esteem in Bantur District. The intervention consisted of bead stringing occupational therapy implemented over three weeks with three home visits per week. Data were collected through interviews, observations, mental status examinations, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and an occupational therapy evaluation form. Results and Discussion: The patient's RSES score increased from 14 (low self-esteem) during the pretest to 24 (moderate/normal self-esteem) during the posttest. Positive behavioral changes were observed, including improved eye contact, communication skills, upright posture, more positive self-appraisal, increased interest in new activities, and greater independence in completing beadwork activities. These findings indicate that bead stringing occupational therapy had a positive effect on improving self-esteem in patients with Chronic Low Self-Esteem.
