Moh Zainol Rachman, S.ST, M.Kes, Supervisor II: Wandi, S.Kep.Ners, M.Pd One of the efforts to prevent disease is hand washing with soap, some elementary school age children in Besuki, Situbondo Regency were found not washing their hands before and after activities due to lack of information on how to wash hands with soap properly and correctly in accordance with WHO standards, some handwashing facilities and infrastructure are inadequate. There are several ways to teach children about good handwashing techniques, one of which is providing health education using direct demonstration methods by practicing hand washing techniques. The demonstration method can also develop handwashing skills so that the child becomes accustomed to washing hands. This study aims to determine the effect of demonstration method education on knowledge, attitudes and actions of washing hands with soap in children at SDN 2 Besuki, Situbondo Regency. This type of quantitative research uses a pre-experimental design of one group pre-post test with a sample of 63 respondents using proportional random sampling techniques. Data collection instruments with questionnaires and observation sheets. data analysis using univariate and bivariate analysis (Wilcoxon test). The results of the study found an increase in knowledge, attitudes and actions before and after intervention using the demonstration method. The level of knowledge of the good category 4.8% increased to 88.9%, attitudes with the positive category 33.3% increased to 57.1% and actions with the good category 0% to 66.7%. The results of the Wilcoxon test showed a significant influence of knowledge, attitudes and actions before and after the intervention with a value of p-value = 0.000 meaning that there was an influence of education with demonstration methods on knowledge, attitudes and actions of washing hands with soap in children at SDN 2 Besuki, Situbondo Regency. It is expected that students improve and apply hand washing properly so that it becomes a habit and schools provide adequate facilities and infrastructure and applying how to wash hands with soap continuously.
